Q-Valve is a typical “non-rebreathing” valve that can be custom-configured with your choice of mouth port (QMP), inhalation port (QiP) and exhalation port (QEP). Keep a Q-Valve with various port connectors in stock and you will always be ready to connect any mask or mouthpiece to any device or tubing.Luer lock or hose barb gas sampling ports may be installed as desired. Specify location, such as valve body, mouth port, inhale port or exhale port.

The problem with conventional non-rebreathing valves is that the valve leaflets quickly “age” from repeated use and cleanings, causing leakage. The Q-valve’s low-cost leaflets are disposed after each test, thus guaranteeing nearly zero leakage and easy cleaning of the basic valve housing. Low breathing resistance make this valve suitable for tests from resting to medium athletic applications. For top athletic testing we recommend valve # “K-Valve” or “R2700”.

No. Q1000 Q-Valve

The fully assembled Q-valve housing No Q1000 is shown here. This valve is configured in the familiar “T” setup, where the mouthport is the center “T” port. Below the same valve showing removable valve leaflets and and exhalation port.

No. Q1000 Q-Valve straight

Q-Valve housing No Q1001 (For straight-through exhalation) is shown disassembled in this photo. This valve is configured so that mouthport and exhalation port are in-line and the inhalation port is at the bottom. The advantage of this configuration is that the breathing tube can be supported in front of the test subject and does not impose an unbalanced weight on just one side of the face mask or mouth piece.

No. Q1000 Q-Valve straight

Here is an example of Q-Valve model Q1001 connected to our “Air Cushion Masks”.

To order this valve as shown with a 1-3/8″ OD exhale port you would have to purchase the following 4 items:

      1. Q1001
      Mouthport # QMP1
      Inhale valve # QiP1
      Exhale port # QEP2

No. Q1001 Q-Valve for V2-mask

To connect the Q-Valve to the reusable “V2-Mask”. as shown here with 1-3/8″ OD exhale port, you would specify:Q1001

  1.       Q1001
  2. Mouthport # QMP10
  3. Inhale valve # QiP1
  4. Exhlale port # QEP2

To order the standard “T” configuration for the V-Mask, simple substitute Q1000 in above list. But if this is all too complicated, call John Hoppe at 805-320-0654 for help.

We can make custom adapters on request.

Notice: This device is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, prevent or mitigate a disease or condition.

Cleaning: Disassemble the valves as shown in the photos above and discard the disposable valve leaflet assemblies. Submerge the remaining parts (body and tubing adapter) into an approved “Sterilizing Solution”. for the recommended soaking period. Rinse parts in water, allow to dry, then re-assemble using a new No. Q-1025 Valve Leaflet Kit as shown. (Use the insertion tool (# 1088) supplied with the Q-valve.)

To facilitate easy removal, we suggest you lubricate the port adapters very slightly with Silicon Grease before insertion.
